I found a link to an iso for Leopard 10.5.2-EFI on the web. Had to use bittorrent-console on Fedora 9 to download it. It took almost 3 (calendar) days to get the blessed thing.
When I finally got it, it booted on the homebrew AMD machine, and made me think it was going to install just fine. Little did I know.
The system is an Elitegroup GeForce6100PM-M2 nForce 430 with an MCP61 controller chip (which apparently controls nearly everything). The onboard video is NVidia GeForce 6100.
These components are fairly common, and I bought them because they were cheap and well represented on the insanelymac forums. Unfortunately, nobody is posting the exact choices they made during installation, so I’m left with a board that is supposed to be supported, but that has absolutely zero documentation for installation.
So far, I have installed the system 12-15 times from scratch. I’m not sure how many times anymore, it’s all a blur. At one point, I actually figured out how to get the thing to boot into OS X. I actually had a running desktop for about 10 minutes. Then I got hyper and decided to do a system update, which crapped the thing out. I haven’t been able to get back to that point since then. This is frustrating, but I am a persistent SOB, and now that I know it *can* be done, I will chew on it like a rabid chihuahua until I get it running again and post the installation options. Wish me luck.
Addendum:
OS/X will install with nv-Inject 128 drivers for NVidia, nForce 3/4/5 board drivers, the hard disk set for MBR, and the Single Boot MBR options loaded. Now working on getting the sound driveer working.
